Writing the last few pages of this paper has been an immense test of all my faculties; it has been painful. And I haven't even started writing about the literature yet! I guess that's what I've been stuck on, though: I've been trying to summarize about forty years of French political, scientific and cultural history so that I can contextualize my project.
The end of context is in sight. And no, that's not meant in a Postmodern/new media sort of way; I mean that literally. Finally, I am almost done with writing about the cultural mores that informed the literature I'm discussing.
And, just in case you were wondering, I don't always give THAT much period background. I feel like this paper requires it, though, since periodizing literature based upon the underlying mentality (think Lovejoy, Maravall, and Lacoue-Labarthe/Nancy) is the entire premise on which my paper is based.
Writing about the literature itself tends to go quicker for me.
Anyway, onward--and hopefully upward--I go. The paper is due tomorrow.
